As winter has firmly set in on the Northern hemisphere, I’d like to look forward to next year and start planning some exotic trips to get my mind off the snow and rain at home.

The world offers a wide range of destinations for travelers and nature lovers to choose from throughout the year. With a list of unlimited places to visit, you can’t miss out on a splendid place to go. With so many options, it can be difficult to decide on where to travel to, particularly if your budget is not as wide ranging are the choices. Have a look at some recommended trip destinations, and it might help you narrow down your list of options for adventures coming up in the new year.

1. Bali

Bali offers many travelers a range of experiences. This Indonesian island features many shrines and ancient temples—such as the Tirta Empul Temple, beautiful landscapes, towering active volcanoes in Kintamani, deep green canopies, sandy shores along the coastline, safari parks hosting Sumatran elephants and family rides. There are many exhilarating experiences available. The island offers every visitor something to love. There is something for all tastes, so regardless of your preferences you are likely to have a breathtaking experiencing. Whether you are looking for an economic holiday, or you love a luxurious reception. There are various resorts that provide luxurious spa treatments accompanied by sunbathing and exquisite cuisine. Equally, the budget traveler has options too.

2. Hawaii

For those searching for a touch and an experience of a lifetime and relaxation, Hawaii offers travelers paradise on earth. The Hawaiian islands showcase natural beauty, with dazzling sunsets and sunrises. There’s nothing you will miss, Hawaii features golden sandy beaches, swimming, surfing, and the ancient Hawaiian sport known as “wave sliding”. Snorkeling with sea turtles, kayaking, and many other sports are readily available.

The community is distinguished by remarkable multiculturalism with several arts and cultural festivals throughout the year. Before you travel make sure to check what is on, and plan your trip ahead.

3. Bhutan

The Himalayan kingdom offers travelers an opportunity to experience traditional Buddhist culture. Scenic views of mountains, a beautiful historic monastery and nature’s beauty are all on the menu as well. Trek the beautiful Himalaya. Routes that are ideal for both short and long distance trekkers can be found.

When opting to go trekking in Bhutan, you need to take note of the seasons. Be aware of peak and non-peak periods. Peak seasons are busy months, and will require you book three months in advance. Alternatively, you can book with an agent to keep all the planning simple. For example, you can go trekking with Kandoo Adventures. If you want to stay away from the hustle and bustle and tourist crowds, stay away from peak seasons.

Bhutan is still enjoyable if you are not interested in trekking. Yearly festivals, such as the Paro and Thimphu Tshechu both take place during the high season.

4. Nepal

Another fascinating destination for trekkers and mountain lovers is without question Nepal. With rugged trails and incredible scenery, you can trek for long hours. Activities like bungee jumping, Canyoning, kayaking, and mountain biking offer a great exploration into the wonderful landscape.

5. Kilimanjaro

Africa not only has wildlife, like lions and leopards, vast areas of savanna plains, and tropical beaches. In Tanzania, just south of the Equator, stands Mt. Kilimanjaro. The glacier-topped peak of the highest mountain in the world. The remarkable view attracts many visitors every year, and a select group of fit and healthy enthusiasts decide to climb it.

Where are you planning to travel next year? I’d love to hear about it in the comments!

Thank you Jodie! I am in the same boat, when I was younger (and as a child) we’d always go to the same places. Then I “rushed” to university and most of my travel has been for business. It has been fun exploring some options that are not just work!
