Facing your fears of a new job

Some people stay in the same job that they’ve had for the past few years, purely because they’re so scared of having to get a new one. But we do understand why it can be a bit worrying. You’ve got the whole process of having to deal with sorting your CV out, applying for jobs, having the interview, and anything else that you can think of in terms of getting a new job. So, as rubbish as the whole process is, and as nervous as it might make you feel, we think we know how to help you face your fears. Bagging yourself a new job really isn’t as hard as you might think, so let us help you through the process with the advice that we’ve got below.

Making Yourself Employable

The first step in the process should be making yourself more employable. If you left school with the most basic grades, and have been in one just since, then it might be hard for you to find a role in a different area. So, first think about what you might like to do. If you want something well paid and relaxed, you could think about truck driving. All you need to have is a clean licence, and a truck driving license. If you search truck driving jobs near me, you should be able to find plenty of opportunities. Once you’ve found them, you need to look at what they’re asking from you. If you notice a pattern that they’re all asking for experience, better grades, or something else, then it’s up to you to go and find it. Doing volunteer work is always a sure fire way of making yourself more employable as well. Employers love to see that you’ve got the experience off your own back, as it does show a sense of commitment to your end goal.

Conquering Your Fear Of Interviews

If you have a fear of interviews, then you really aren’t alone. There are not many people who can honestly say that the thought of an interview just doesn’t bother them. So, rather than letting these nerves get the better of you, let them make you more motivated. If you go in there, all guns blazing, with your best attitude towards the job, you’re going to catch their eye. Whilst you don’t want to be too overpowering, you don’t want to be the sheep either. Let your personality shine through, and remember that the people interviewing you probably don’t want to be doing it as much as you do!

Deciding If It’s The Job For You

So, you think you like the career, you like the sound of the company, but what did first impressions do for you? People are so dead set on a career, but the company offering the role isn’t necessarily going to be the best. During the interview, you should be able to get a feel for the people that you might work for, and asking a lot of questions about how the company is run is really important. You should also read reviews on the internet, as past employees will tell their story about their time within the company.
