Instilling pride in your workforce

If you’ve ever read or learned anything about motivating your workforce or creating a loyal and hardworking team, one thing that’s sure to have come up time and time again is pride. A team that’s proud of where they work is sure to give more. Someone with pride in their job will be more loyal, they’ll work harder, and they’ll stick around for the long term. Pride also improves morale. A proud team, is often happier at work. There’s a positive atmosphere, and everyone is glad to be there. Instilling pride in your workforce can have many positive effects. But, how do you do it? It’s never as simple as merely telling them that they should be proud and it’s something that even large, prestigious companies struggle with.

Lead by Example

If you want your staff to be proud, you need to look after your business. You need to take care of it and give it the attention that it needs. You need to turn it into something that others are proud to be involved in.

As with all elements of management, it’s crucial that you lead by example. If you seem like you don’t want to be there, or like you aren’t committed and proud of what you are doing, it becomes impossible to expect your team to do the same. Check yourself. Are you taking care of your business? Do you give your staff your time and attention? Do you take pride in your work, in your appearance and your accomplishments? Do you celebrate success and make plans for the future? If not, start now.

Give Them What They Need

Your staff have needs. They need you to give them what they need to do their jobs well. If they can’t do their jobs well, how can you expect them to be proud of the company or the work that they are doing? The tools they need come in a variety of packages and all of the members of your team will have different needs.

Some might just need you to invest in decent machinery, online business, and compressor spare parts. Others will need flexible working arrangements and extra support at certain times. The best way to find out what they need is by getting to know them.

Have Clear Expectations

The members of your team can’t do their jobs well if they don’t know what you expect of them. Without clear goals, they can flounder aimlessly, and it’s hard to take pride in what you are doing if you don’t know if you are doing what you should be.

To make this easier for them, give them clear goals and expectations. Let them know what you need and what you expect. Give them attainable targets and something to measure their success by.

Be Proud of Them

If you want them to be proud of what they do, you need to be proud of them. Reward their achievements and celebrate both individual and team success. Share the businesses successes with them and tell them that you are proud of them. Just a simple thank you at the end of the day can go a long way.
