4 Essential tricks to attracting people to your online store

Whether you are an existing business with an online store or you’re a newcomer with big ideas about online selling, you aren’t going to get anywhere with your products unless you can attract customers to your site. Business has moved on a lot in the last few years and there are more businesses popping up online than there ever has been. The accessibility of the internet and the sheer reach that companies can have when they occupy a digital space means that profit and growth are almost guaranteed. Almost.

It is not as simple as setting up shop with some pretty pictures of your products and waiting for bites. You’re not fishing in the lakes. You’re trying to put your livelihood in the hands of other people; people who will need to buy from you if you want to be able to expand and grow easily. Acquiring people to come online and buy from you is not simple and it can be difficult to attract new business when all you want to do is sit back and wait for the money to roll in. Unfortunately, you need to be more productive! There are some simple ways that you can bring in the customers and get your business bankrolled, and we’ve got four ways you can do it below:

Pretty It Up. If your website has been set up by you, you can choose the best, prettiest WordPress design out there to catch the eye. Everyone everywhere tells you that looks don’t matter, and while that may be true when it comes to attracting a spouse, it’s not the case when you want to attract customers. People like beautiful things, and your website has to be one of those beautiful things online. Ugly online shops won’t attract customers who want to buy pretty things. Don’t turn people off at the first hurdle.

Be Present. You can have a social media site or three, but if you’re not active on there and actually engaging with people, you won’t get anywhere. People love to talk, and they do have questions, but customers are also lazy: they’d rather ask you outright their questions than look at the website to find them. Be present and engage with them.

Care More. Customers count. If you are not answering customers quick enough online or on the phone, then you need to consider that you aren’t being very caring. People want an immediate reply that you can provide, so provide it and offer the best service.

Offer Freebies & Discounts. People love something for free. Send out discount codes and money off shipping online and on social media and you’ll watch the hoards of customers flock to you. It may take something free to bring them in, but it’ll take the quality of your product to keep them returning.

Customers matter, but your website matters first. Get yourself up to speed on how to make people spend more money with you and you’ll be flying!
