Opposites attract: harnessing creativity in your business

It is something that many entrepreneurs can struggle with, the notion of being creative, especially within a business framework. How much of one in comparison to the other should you have? And while productivity, and the art of being productive does, to an extent, rely on creativity, how much of this skill should you harness?

What’s Missing?

You will know if your business is missing that je ne sais quoi. It’s at this point where you can take a step back, observe the bigger picture, and look at what icing needs to be added to the proverbial business cake. If your business is limping along, and you are struggling to let the right clients, is it about the fact that something very important is missing from your business. In cases like these, you might want to harness a PR agency to add something extra that you can’t achieve in-house. When you are trying to be a bit more creative, outside help could be just what the doctor ordered, because it gives a different perspective of things, which can automatically spark your imagination.

You Don’t Have To Be The Creator, Just The Motivator

If you are leading a creative team, then your goal is to ensure that they are given free rein to express themselves. If you are looking at the figures, and you’re not getting the results you’re after, why is this? Is it because your team isn’t being creative enough? In which case, it’s time to put your motivational skills to the fore. As entrepreneurs, we can feel like we are the ones that have to come up with all of the ideas- this isn’t the case at all. You have a team of skilled people, each with their own unique take on the world, listen to them and take on board what they have to say, but also, motivate them, push them into new and uncharted territories!

Why Trusting Your Instincts Will Benefit You In A Creative Sense

We can feel like we’re not progressing, or stagnating, because everything feels bereft of life. But, if you are trying to harness your inner creativity, are you actually feeling the pressure on yourself to come up with the perfect solution, in which case, you are avoiding the idea of play? Creativity isn’t about getting it right, it’s about coming up with as many different starting points as possible, and from there, you can go down certain avenues and achieve something unique. But to do this, you need to not pile the pressure on yourself, but trust your instincts. And if you are feeling dry, do something to whet your appetite again. Read a book, do something you wouldn’t normally do, get out of your comfort zone. Sometimes, not thinking about it as much is what will set you off in the right direction.

Creativity is an art, but it’s something that doesn’t need to be forced. And even though you are feeling the pressure of finances, and employees, you should use you’re creatively names as an excuse to play and have fun. Which, in business, it’s something we don’t always have the opportunity to do.
