All roads lead to Rome…
While definitely not all roads lead to my blog, there are some very funny search terms people have used to land on my site. I’ve been inspired by a fellow Dutch (travel) blogger who regularly writes up the funniest search terms that lead to her website. After taking a look at my Google Webmaster Tools today, I couldn’t resist writing a similar roundup with the funniest ways my blog has been found in the search engines lately.
- A Dutch girl. That’s it. That’s all they were searching for. Just ‘a Dutch girl’. Well, I am Dutch, but I am one of millions. Intrigued myself, I do a search with this phrase and I find articles with tips on dating Dutch women, and how to dress like a Dutch girl. I’ll admit, I never knew we have such intriguing fashion sense or are that desirable/exotic to date. Why they end up on my blog with this phrase is a bit of a stretch despite my Dutch heritage. I still have no idea what they were really looking for.
- Cycling Dutch Girl. Another variety pointing back at my heritage. Funny, because I have only written once so far about my commute in London. By no means do I think that defines me, and it is definitely not the main focus of my blog.
- Eating bench. I am not sure what this is. Perhaps one of those picnic benches? There are various articles that touch on my career transition from the research bench to business, but I have never written about eating a bench, or benches used for eating.
- Finding business email addresses. Hmmm…. I am not sure. Do people think I deal in mailing lists? I don’t even have my own yet so I cannot really help here I’m afraid.
- easyBus old street stop map. I am getting a surprising amount of traffic on my article comparing the easyBus vs National Express to Stansted Airport. When I took the easyBus I had a really hard time figuring out where it stops as well. There is no map of it on their website, so I am not surprised so many people are trying their luck in the search engines.
- In london so fair. I have no idea what they were looking for, but hope they found it!
- Subway in London. This one is funny, because at least my post probably educated people that this is called the “tube” in London. Searching for the tube or a tube map is probably going to yield better results.
- Scarf Business. I’ve written a review about NapScarf, but I do not know a lot about the scarf business in general to be honest.
- Is there someone who looks exactly like me?. I have no idea…I have never met a look-a-like myself and I have never written about it either.
- Raving lights. Party anyone? I’ve attended a Rave class at my gym a little while ago, but I am no expert on the party light scene.
- How big is Harrods? It’s very large. I am not sure what the square footage is exactly. I like visiting Harrods occasionally and it is big enough that you can get tired just from walking around the store. A lot of people try to find the store’s opening hours and address, and land on my blog as well. So this is where you can find the opening hours and address for Harrods.
- The perfect vacation. While I write quite a bit about business travel and not much about vacations, I will say one of my best vacations was my hiking trip. What makes a perfect vacation is highly subjective, so hopefully this person figured out their dream getaway eventually.
